FAQ

What is your approach?

Do I need to know what I want to work on?

What will happen in the first session?

I offer an integrated approach that brings together my counselling and coaching skills.

You don't need to decide whether counselling or coaching is right for you before you get in touch. We start with where you are, what's happening for you and what you need.

Depending on what you're looking for, our work might involve exploring emotions and experiences, understanding patterns, building self-awareness, finding clarity, exploring goals or identifying practical ways forward.

Sometimes the work is more therapeutic, sometimes more focused on moving forward, and often it's a combination of both.

What will happen in the first session?

Once you decide to begin, I'll send you the relevant client information and contract to complete before our first session.

It's completely normal to feel nervous about starting with someone new.

During our first session, we'll go through anything you need to know, answer your questions and talk about what has brought you to counselling and coaching.

There is no expectation that you arrive with everything figured out.

Do I need to know what I want to work on?

No...

You don't need to arrive with a clear goal or know exactly what you need.

You might know something isn't working but not know why. You might feel overwhelmed or stuck. Or you might simply want some space to understand yourself better.

We can work that out together.

There isn't a set number of sessions.

Everyone is different, and the length of support will depend on what you need and what we're working on together.

We'll regularly check in about how the work is feeling for you and whether it continues to be helpful.

You are always welcome to talk to me about your progress, concerns or anything you'd like to change about how we're working together.

What approaches do you use?

What if I'm not sure you're the right person for me?

Is this counselling or coaching?

I work integratively and tailor my approach to you.

Depending on what feels appropriate, I may draw on:

  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Creative techniques
  • Coaching approaches

The approach isn't about putting you into a particular model.

It's about finding what is most helpful for you.

What if I'm not sure you're the right person for me?

Is this counselling or coaching?

It can be both.

I've chosen to move away from offering counselling and coaching as two separate services because I found that this could create an unnecessary question for clients:

“Which one do I need?”

Instead, I offer an integrated approach.

You don't have to choose.

We start where you are and work from there.

What if I'm not sure you're the right person for me?

What if I'm not sure you're the right person for me?

What if I'm not sure you're the right person for me?

 That's completely okay.

Finding someone you feel comfortable working with matters.

If you're unsure, you can get in touch and tell me a little about what you're looking for.

We can discuss whether my approach feels like the right fit for you.
